The Itinerary

This is our itinerary for the entire trip to Germany. It is very brief and on the days that we have a choice of tours we really haven't decided what we will do on those yet but I have included both selections.

Itinerary and contact info for Germany trip

Sunday, Nov 1: Meet at city parking lot on 6th and Platte Ave. at 6:30 am to board at 6:40 am. Bus will depart from York at 7:00 am to go to Omaha to catch flight. We leave on United Airlines at 10:44 am. We arrive at Chicago/O’Hare at 12:24 pm. We will have a short layover and leave on Lufthansa Airlines at 3:40 pm. Off we go for our overnight flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

Monday, Nov 2: After 8 hours and 20 minutes we arrive in Frankfurt at 7:00 am that is midnight to you guys. We will travel from Frankfurt to Trier, the oldest city in Germany, where we will transfer to the Amadeus Amalyra for a seven night cruise.

Tuesday, Nov 3: Today we will visit the Renaissance village of Bernkastel. We have a wonderful walking tour planned. Later in the afternoon we will visit Zell, famous for its wine Zeller Schwarze Katz.

Wednesday, Nov 4: We will have a choice of tours today. We have a choice of going to Cochem to visit the Reichsburg Castle, or a walking tour of Koblenz where we will see many of this village’s sites. Later that evening we will go to Siegfried’s Musical Instrument Museum in Rudesheim.

Thursday, Nov 5: Again we will have a choice of tours. Tour A will take us to Mainz and Frankfurt. This is a hard decision to make today. In Mainz we visit the Gutenberg Museum and I am excited to go there. Then Tour B will take us to Heidelberg. We travel by motorcoach to this destination and it is all day long. So we haven’t yet decided which we will do.

Friday, Nov 6: In the morning we are in Miltenberg for another walking tour of the village. In the afternoon we go to Wertheim to see a glassblowing demonstration. Then we get to stroll along the Market Square for shopping.

Saturday, Nov 7: We are in the city of Wurzburg, the capital of Lower Franconia. This is the home of the Residenz Palace and Square. We have an optional tour we can take today that continues along the Romantic Road. We can travel to Rothenburg which they say is one of the most beautiful in Germany. It is very enticing. Wouldn’t it be special to find German Christmas Ornaments to buy?

Sunday, Nov 8: We cruise in the morning to the Main-Danube Canal in enchanting Bamberg. We will be in Bamberg all afternoon. We are scheduled to see a lot of sites including Little Venice. This will be our last night of cruising before heading for our land excursion.

Monday, Nov 9: We leave our ship in Nuremberg for the beginning of our land tour. Today we visit the Nuremberg Castle. Later we transfer to Prague, Czech Republic for a two night stay.

Tuesday, Nov 10: We do sightseeing at the Hradcany Castle, the Old Town, and the Jewish Ghetto. The afternoon we are on our own to visit with the people of Wenceslaus Square, shop for souvenirs and just enjoy our last day in Europe.

Wednesday, Nov 11: We say goodbye to our journey to Europe’s wine country and the romantic journey. We share our memories of the Wonders of the Rhine and Moselle River Cruise.
